Thermal Barrier protects exposed spray foam so it meets the building code in areas that won’t be covered by dry wall or other fire retardant.

Applications: Wherever foam insulation is applied without fire retardant. Envelope insulation jobs. Airseals. Underground pipes. Exterior foundations.

Features: Highest R-Value. Seamless Air Solution. Consistent R-factor.

Spray Foam Insulation can’t be left exposed to an occupied space. Ener-Spray uses a Spray on Mineral Fibre Thermal Barrier or Cementitious Thermal Barrier to cover exposed spray foam so it meets the building code in areas that won’t be dry walled. Ener-Spray has worked with building officials and suppliers to come up with an effective system that works and is cost effective. Both materials used comply with CAN/ULC S124 "Standard Method of Test for the Evaluation of Protective Coverings for Foamed Plastic".

Thermal barrier fireproofing is a common solution in colder climates of Alberta and Sasketchewan as the underlying 2 lb foam insulation provides the highest R-Value insulation. The foam insulation lacks the appropriate fire retarding properties; that's what the Cementitious or Mineral Wool material adds to the foam insulation. Mineral Glass insulation is an alternative insulation but is rarely used in Canada outside of BC's Lower Mainland.

The underlying foam insulation does not decompose, deteriorate, off-gas or change in R-Value as it is completely sealed from UV rays. Overall, the combination is an excellent way of insulating, sealing and fireproofing for a lengthy if not indefinate period withot any change in R-value.

Applications

Wherever foam insulation is applied without fire retardant. Envelope insulation jobs. Airseals. Underground pipes. Exterior foundations.

Key features

Highest R-Value
Thermal Barrier fireproofing applied over 2 lb foam insulation provides the highest R-Rating surpassing that of the alternative, Mineral Glass Insulation.
Seamless Air Solution
Both foam and mineral fibre/cementitious fire-proofing adheres directly to the substrate forming a seamless and permanent coverage over and around even the most difficult shapes.
Consistent R-factor
Time and temperature changes have no effect on the R-value of the underlying foam insulation.
